Website Worth Sharing: Thought Questions

Do you need to refresh your writing prompts? You might want to check out this website that contains a large collection of thoughtful questions combined with great images.

http://thoughtquestions.com

Check out what’s immediately available on the website or go to the Archives menu to find questions from the past. The monthly questions often fit with the holidays or occasions. For example many January questions have to do with the new year.

You can share these directly from the web or copy/paste your favorites into a PowerPoint or SMART Notebook lesson to create a collection of visual writing prompts. You can also challenge your students to be creative and create their own “thought questions”. They can even e-mail them to the folks that create the website (click on “Ask a Question” on the top menu.)

Great images and thought provoking questions to stimulate kids’ thinking. I could see using them for quick, fast-writes to make an opinion and justify their answers. It’s not text -based, per say, but it would help get them to think!
